Pricing questions
What does a fax cost?
Outbound faxes are 10¢ per page delivered, inbound faxes are 6¢ per page received, and each fax number is $5.00 per month, before applicable taxes.
Is there a monthly minimum or a contract?
No. Direct accounts are pay-as-you-go: no monthly minimum, no contract, no setup fee. You pay for the pages you send and receive and the numbers you keep, and you can stop at any time.
Do I pay for a fax that fails?
No. An outbound fax is billed once, for the pages delivered, and only when it succeeds. Failed, cancelled, expired, and rejected faxes cost nothing, and neither do the retries before a success.
How are inbound faxes billed?
Per page received. Very short connections that deliver no page are not billed.
Is there a per-user or per-seat fee?
No. You pay per page and a monthly charge per fax number.
Which fax numbers can I get?
Fax numbers in the North American Numbering Plan: the United States and Canada. You can send to fax numbers in other countries where delivery is available; ask us about those rates before you rely on them. Fax numbers are assigned to your account for fax use while it is in good standing; they are not owned and cannot be ported out.
Are there added fees on top of these prices?
No. The prices above are what you pay, plus sales tax only where the law requires it. Our own carrier costs are already in the price and never appear as a separate line.
Is this a phone service?
No. FaxDev is an internet fax service: it sends, receives, and stores fax documents. It does not carry voice calls and cannot be used to reach emergency services, so keep another way to call for help.
How do I pay?
By card on a prepaid balance with optional automatic top-up, or by invoice once approved.
How does reseller pricing work?
Resellers buy at a wholesale rate under a reseller agreement and set their own retail price and monthly page cap for each customer sub-account. You can bill customers yourself or have us bill them for you. Wholesale rates are not published; contact us for terms.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Sign up with a card on file and you get $3 of trial credit to send your first faxes. Trial faxes go out from a shared trial number, one recipient per fax and up to 10 pages a day, and the trial has no number of its own, so it cannot receive. The card is not charged until you add funds; the first top-up ($10 or more) moves the account to pay as you go, turns on automatic top-up, and lets you get a number of your own. Numbers are assigned by FaxDev and are not portable, and FaxDev is an internet fax service, not a telephone service.
Can I test without being billed?
Yes. Faxes sent with a bfx_test_ API key are rendered and checked like real ones, then marked succeeded without dialing or billing.
Do you offer HIPAA support and a BAA?
Yes, through the HIPAA add-on at $50.00 per month per account, BAA included. It enforces two-step sign-in, link-only notifications, logging of every document view, a six-year audit trail, and retention up to seven years. It supports HIPAA compliance; it is not a certification. See the HIPAA fax page for details.
Where do notification emails come from, and why should I allow-list the sender?
Notification emails (a fax received, a fax delivered or failed, an invitation) come from [email protected], with your organization's name as the display name and replies going to your support address when you set one. Add [email protected] to your safe-sender or allow list so fax notifications are never filtered as spam. Resellers who verify their own sending domain send from their own address instead; the notification settings in the app always show the exact address.
